The Firm

A boutique built for the work, not the marketing.

Eldredge Law Firm has practiced intellectual property law continuously since 1990. From an Arlington principal office and six additional locations across the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex and Houston, the firm serves inventors, founders, and businesses across Texas and the United States. Our partners are USPTO-registered patent attorneys; both have been recognized by Super Lawyers; both have spent careers drafting, prosecuting, and litigating patents and trademarks. We are a two-partner boutique by design. Each matter is handled by the attorney who will see it through.

On the Practice

"Every patent claim is a contract between the inventor and the public. The work of the prosecutor is to draft that contract so that what the inventor invented is what the inventor gets to protect."

First-call questions

Asked on most consultations.

If your question is not here, the most reliable way to get it answered is to call the firm during business hours.

01.What is a USPTO-registered patent attorney, and why does it matter?

A USPTO-registered patent attorney is admitted both to a state bar and to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. USPTO registration requires both a law degree and a qualifying technical or scientific degree, followed by passage of the patent bar examination. Only registered patent attorneys may file and prosecute patent applications before the USPTO. Both named partners of this firm are USPTO-registered.

02.How quickly will the firm respond after I reach out?

We respond the same business day for inquiries received before 4:00 PM Central Time. Most initial consultations are scheduled within 48 hours of first contact. If your matter is genuinely urgent, the phone number at the top of every page connects directly to a member of the firm during business hours.

03.Is the initial consultation actually free?

Yes. There is no charge and no obligation for the initial consultation. We use the time to understand the matter, evaluate whether the firm is the right fit, and explain the realistic path forward. If we are not the right firm for the matter, we will tell you and, where possible, refer you to counsel who is.

04.Does the firm handle litigation, or only USPTO filings?

Both. The firm's litigation practice covers patent and trademark infringement, trade-secret misappropriation under the federal Defend Trade Secrets Act and the Texas Uniform Trade Secrets Act, licensing disputes, and IP-related contract matters. We appear regularly in the Eastern and Northern Districts of Texas.

05.I am outside Texas. Can the firm still represent me?

Yes. Patent and trademark practice is by definition federal. Our USPTO and copyright work can be handled for clients anywhere in the United States. IP litigation outside Texas can be handled on a matter-by-matter basis, typically in partnership with local counsel.
